LITERARY EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOPS FROM THE HEART
Arise, Write, Release Workshops are birthed out of understanding, compassion, love of people, love of self and living and creating perpetually. It all began with one invitation. A friend asked Freeman to do a workshop based on journaling and writing; easy task Freeman thought – she does both. In working on what she would teach, what Freeman discovered anew was that everything she had ever experienced was explored, assessed or uncovered in her writing. That truth was evident whether the writing was journaling, fiction, plays or poetry. The session became a literary-based empowerment workshop and was the first in a line of similar classes.
Detox Your Life
Available in one day, series, or conference-timed format. This workshop is based on the concept that our lives become constipated because of the stuff we pile on, dwell in and allow to become attached to us therefore needing detoxification. It encourages us to look at everything in our life as objects and then determine if that object is a blessing or a toxin that needs to be detoxed.
The Morning Hour
Available in two hour workshop or conference-timed format. This workshop uses journaling or writing as a way to experience the challenges of life in a more productive manner. It uses a journal of the same name and several interactive exercises.
Faces of a Little Girl Lost
Women wear an interesting mask. That mask is the looks that adorn their face based on people, things and situations in our lives. That mask often dictates the roads they journey on and can leave one wearing a vision or a purpose that is not their own. This interactive session designed for women of all ages, will have you writing one minute and in the next moment you are drawing - the design is a map back to who you were destined to be.
Living on Stage
Uses components of playwriting to encourage taking a difficult but delicate look at hard-life dilemmas and scripting the voices of the players in that dilemma to help bring healing, closure, revelation and peace. Defining characters, establishing sets, delving into plots and reasons and after theatrical writing practices are used to promote literary exploration and script a progressive ending. Participants actually write or begin to write a theatrical production during the workshop or series of workshops.
Wellness Study Group
Combines the Detox Your Life and Morning Hour workshops. The curriculum will encourage students to release years of objects that have blocked their intellectual, spiritual and mental development and perhaps even contributed to some health conditions. The curriculum will also encourage a daily regimen of building self-affirming thoughts and operating in one’s personal mission statement and life purpose. Ideal as a one day workshop, or a multiple day conference-timed workshop.
